For clients outside Sydney, our agents in Victoria, the ACT, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia assist with smaller adaptive jobs locally. For full conversions, the vehicle comes to our Sydney workshop, and Gilani Engineering arranges transport to and from your location. Many interstate and regional clients travel in while their vehicle is converted, or have it transported both ways — so the process works wherever you are in Australia.
Compliance, Certification & Safety
A vehicle is classified as modified when its original manufacturer specifications are altered. Modifications that affect an Australian Design Rule require certification before the vehicle is road legal.
Gilani Engineering completes conversions to align with the Australian Design Rules (ADR) and certifies them under the NSW Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme (VSCCS) by a state-licensed vehicle safety certifier on our own team. This keeps engineering, installation and sign-off in-house rather than split across separate providers. NDIS, Support at Home & DVA Funding
Disability car conversions and wheelchair vehicle modifications may be funded where assessed as reasonable and necessary, usually supported by an occupational therapist assessment. The NDIS funds modifications to a vehicle rather than the purchase of the vehicle itself.
As a registered NDIS provider, Gilani Engineering assists with detailed quotations, technical specifications and supporting documentation for plan managers and occupational therapists. Funding pathways include NDIS, Support at Home and DVA (Rehabilitation Appliances Program) where eligible. We also work with iCare and private clients.
