Who this bed is designed for
Elderly & aged care at home
For families supporting an ageing parent who needs safer transfers, repositioning and easier bed access at home. The height-adjustable frame means carers work at a safe height on every visit тАФ reducing back strain and manual handling risk. Suitable for seniors with reduced mobility, Parkinson’s, stroke recovery and dementia care.
Post-surgery recovery
For coming home after hip, knee, spinal or cardiac surgery where a standard bed is unsafe. The backrest elevates to help you sit up independently, the height adjusts so you can stand without being lifted, and the corded remote means the controls are always exactly where you need them.
NDIS & disability support
For NDIS participants and people with disability requiring assistive technology at home. Suitable for mobility limitations, cerebral palsy and acquired brain injury. Gilani Engineering is a registered NDIS provider тАФ we assist with AT quotes, OT documentation and plan manager invoicing.
Long-term & palliative care
For ongoing home care where a nurse or carer visits regularly, and for palliative support at home. Full Trendelenburg tilt, IV pole stand, and compatible pressure care mattresses available. Supports No Lift manual handling policies used by professional carers.
Corded remote control тАФ never misplaced, always within reach
Unlike wireless remotes that can fall between cushions, slide under the bed or get left in another room, this bed uses a wired corded handset that stays attached to the bed rail at all times. For elderly users and people with mobility limitations, this is a critical safety and independence feature тАФ the controls are always exactly where you need them. The handset controls all 5 functions and includes a flat-return button that brings the bed back to a neutral position in a single press.
5-function electric adjustment тАФ all via corded remote
| Function | Range | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Backrest (head elevation) | 0┬░ тАУ 70┬░ | Sitting up for meals, reading, breathing support. Reduces aspiration risk. User can operate independently. |
| Legrest (foot elevation) | 0┬░ тАУ 35┬░ | Circulation support, swelling reduction, comfortable resting. Operates independently of backrest. |
| Knee break (mid-section) | Independent | Prevents patient sliding when backrest is raised. Essential for post-surgical positioning. |
| Hi-lo height adjustment | 48 тАУ 86 cm | Lowers for safe independent entry and exit. Raises to carer working height тАФ eliminates bending and supports No Lift policy. |
| Trendelenburg & reverse tilt | 0┬░ тАУ 12┬░ | Whole-bed tilt for circulation, pressure management and clinical positioning. Both tilt directions included. |
Backrest and legrest operate independently or simultaneously. The flat-return button on the corded handset returns the bed to neutral position in a single press тАФ ideal for carers who need to quickly reposition a patient.
Key benefits for users and carers
- Safer transfers тАФ the height-adjustable lifting frame brings the bed to the right height for both user and carer. No unsafe pivots onto a fixed-height mattress.
- Reduces carer manual handling injury тАФ raises to a no-stoop working height for wound care, washing and repositioning. Compliant with No Lift manual handling policies.
- Pressure injury and bedsore prevention тАФ repositioning via the corded remote reduces pressure ulcer and bedsore risk for patients in extended bed rest. Compatible with Gilani pressure care mattress upgrades.
- User independence тАФ users with upper body strength can sit up, adjust the legrest and reposition themselves without calling a carer. Restores dignity in daily care.
- Corded remote тАФ always within reach тАФ the wired handset stays on the bed rail at all times. No searching. No flat batteries. No delay when repositioning is urgent.
- Hospital bed on wheels тАФ 125 mm lockable castors let the bed move between rooms. One step on the central locking pedal locks all four wheels simultaneously for safe, stable transfers.
- Clinical features for home use тАФ full Trendelenburg tilt, ABS drop-down safety rails with anti-pinch design, and an included IV pole stand.
- 225 kg safe working load тАФ heavy-duty steel frame suitable for a wide range of users. Stronger than most standard adjustable beds which are typically rated to 120тАУ150 kg.

Common questions
Why is the remote control corded тАФ won’t the cord get in the way?
The corded wired handset is a deliberate design choice for home care and elderly use. A wireless remote can fall under the bed, slide behind cushions, run out of battery or be left in another room тАФ all serious problems when an elderly or mobility-limited user needs to adjust their position urgently. The corded handset is permanently attached to the bed rail and always within arm’s reach. The cord is long enough to allow full bedside movement and hooks neatly onto the side rail when not in use.
What does the remote control operate?
The corded handset controls all 5 functions: backrest up/down, legrest up/down, full bed height up/down (hi-lo), and Trendelenburg tilt in both directions. It also includes a flat-return button that brings the entire bed back to a flat neutral position in a single press тАФ useful when a carer needs to quickly lay a patient flat without navigating individual controls.
Will this bed fit through a standard doorway?
The overall bed width is 100 cm. Standard Australian interior doorways are typically 820 mm (82 cm). With the drop-down side rails removed, the frame can be manoeuvred through most standard doorways. If you have narrow doorways or a tight hallway, call us before ordering тАФ we can advise on setup and delivery logistics for your home.
Can I use my existing mattress?
No. A compatible articulating foam mattress is included with every bed. Using a standard innerspring or rigid foam mattress can damage it and create a safety hazard when the sections adjust. If you need a pressure care upgrade, we have compatible options тАФ see our pressure care mattresses.
Can NDIS fund this hospital bed?
Yes. This bed is eligible under NDIS Assistive Technology supports when assessed as reasonable and necessary. An Occupational Therapist assessment is typically required. As a registered NDIS provider, we provide itemised AT quotes and supporting documentation for plan managers and support coordinators. Read our full NDIS hospital bed guide тЖТ
Can I use my Home Care Package to buy this bed?
Yes. This bed is eligible under Home Care Package (HCP) equipment funding for Level 2, 3 and 4 packages. It may also be available under CHSP through your approved provider. Speak with your care coordinator тАФ we provide compatible quotes and invoicing. Call us on (02) 8740 8963 for help with the paperwork.
How much does it cost to hire a hospital bed?
We offer weekly and monthly hire for this model. Hire is ideal for post-surgery recovery, short-term care, or while waiting for NDIS funding approval. We also offer a hire-to-buy option тАФ start hiring, convert to ownership at any time. See current hire pricing and availability тЖТ
What is the minimum height of the bed?
The bed lowers to 48 cm from floor to mattress base, allowing most users to step in and out independently. If a lower floor-level bed is needed for fall prevention тАФ such as for dementia care тАФ contact us. We have dedicated floor-level models that lower to under 25 cm.
How long does delivery take?
Metro areas in NSW, VIC and QLD: typically 3тАУ7 business days. Other states and regional areas: 5тАУ14 business days. For urgent post-hospital discharge in NSW metro, call (02) 8740 8963 тАФ we regularly support same-week deliveries.
What warranty is included?
1-year warranty from the invoice date. After-sales phone and email support throughout the warranty period. For warranty claims contact us on (02) 8740 8963 or via our contact page. Annual servicing is recommended тАФ ask us about service visits when you order.
Need advice before you buy?
Our team can confirm the right bed for your care setup, check NDIS or Home Care Package eligibility, and organise delivery. No pressure тАФ we give honest advice.
