Description
Harmar AL600 Hybrid Wheelchair & Scooter Lift — In-Vehicle Platform Lift | Australia
Carry your powerchair or scooter inside your vehicle — with nothing hanging off the back.
The Harmar AL600 is a hybrid lift that loads your power wheelchair or mobility scooter into the cargo area of your minivan, SUV or van. You guide your mobility device onto the platform, secure it, and the remote hand control lifts it inside — so your device travels protected within the vehicle rather than exposed on the tow bar.
Because nothing is mounted outside the vehicle, you keep full use of your reversing camera and you do not lose garage clearance. Every installation includes a vehicle assessment by our engineering team.

Keep Your Reversing Camera and Your Garage Clearance
A tow bar mounted carrier is a great solution for many people — but it does sit behind your vehicle, which can block your reversing camera and add length when you are parking in a garage. The AL600 solves both, because the lift and your mobility device travel inside.
- Reversing camera stays clear — nothing blocking the rear of your vehicle
- No extra length — your garage clearance is unchanged
- Your device travels protected — out of the weather and road grime
- Second-row seating still usable — passengers can still travel with you
- No drilling required in most vehicles
The Honest Trade-Off
We would rather you know this up front. The AL600 gives you a clear reversing camera, garage clearance and a protected mobility device — but it does use your cargo area, and at 81kg installed it is a substantial unit. A tow bar carrier keeps your boot completely free but sits outside the vehicle.
Neither is better in the abstract — it depends on what matters most to you. Our team can walk you through the difference for your vehicle and your situation.
Carries Powerchairs and Scooters
The AL600 is a versatile hybrid lift, taking most standard power wheelchairs and mobility scooters up to 159kg — one lift for either device.
- 159kg lifting capacity — suits most standard powerchairs and scooters
- 72cm x 114cm platform with an 18cm wheel cradle
- Remote hand control — operate the lift from where you are standing
- Optional scooter wheel cradle for a more secure scooter fit
Securement Options
The AL600 secures your mobility device with four cam buckles as standard — straps you tension yourself once the device is on the platform.
If you would prefer quicker, tool-free securement, four self-tensioning Q’Straint retractors are available as an option. These clip on and tension themselves, the same system used on our powered tow bar carriers. Worth considering if you load and unload frequently, or if hand strength is a factor.
- Standard: four cam buckles
- Optional upgrade: four self-tensioning Q’Straint retractors
- Optional: scooter wheel cradle
Will It Fit My Vehicle?
The AL600 suits compatible minivans, SUVs and vans with sufficient cargo area. Because it installs inside the vehicle and lifts a heavy load, both your cargo space and your vehicle’s suitability need to be confirmed first.
Every installation begins with a vehicle assessment. We check:
- Your vehicle — make, model, year, cargo area dimensions and door opening
- Your mobility device — make, model, weight and dimensions
- Your needs — how many passengers you carry, and whether you need second-row seating retained
Send us your vehicle and device details and we will confirm compatibility before you buy.

Professional Assessment and Installation
We do not simply ship this lift and leave you to work it out. Every AL600 is assessed and installed by our team, because a lift that carries a heavy device inside your vehicle needs to be right.
- Vehicle assessment — we check your cargo area, door opening and vehicle suitability
- Device check — we confirm your powerchair or scooter’s weight and dimensions against the platform
- Quote and documentation — including NDIS paperwork if you need it
- Installation — fitted and wired by our team, then tested
- Demonstration — we show you how to load, secure and operate it before you drive away

Australian Warranty and Support
Your warranty and support are with Gilani Engineering here in Australia. If you have a question or an issue, you deal with our team locally rather than chasing an overseas manufacturer.
The AL600 is covered by a 12-month warranty. This is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Inside or Outside — Which Suits You?
The main choice is whether your mobility device travels inside your vehicle or outside on the tow bar. Here is the honest comparison.
| Solution | You gain | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| AL600 hybrid lift (inside) | Reversing camera stays clear, garage clearance unchanged, device protected from weather | Uses your cargo area |
| Powered tow bar carrier (outside) | Cargo area completely free, higher capacities available | Sits behind the vehicle — may block the reversing camera and add length |
| BT-80 boot hoist (inside) | Compact, lower cost, lifts a folded chair into the boot | 80kg limit — folding chairs and compact scooters only |
Not sure which suits you? Tell us your vehicle and device and we will talk you through it honestly.
NDIS, Support at Home & DVA Funding
A vehicle lift may be funded through several pathways for eligible Australians:
- NDIS — as a registered NDIS provider, we supply quotes and supporting documentation. Vehicle equipment may be funded where assessed as reasonable and necessary, usually with an OT recommendation.
- Support at Home — for Australians aged 65+ receiving government-funded aged care through My Aged Care, subject to assessed needs.
- DVA — eligible veterans may access equipment through the DVA Rehabilitation Appliances Program (RAP).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a hybrid lift?
A hybrid lift combines features of a tow bar carrier and a hoist. You guide your powerchair or scooter onto a platform, secure it, then use the remote to lift it into your vehicle’s cargo area — so your device travels inside rather than outside.
Will the AL600 block my reversing camera?
No. Because the AL600 installs inside your vehicle, nothing is mounted behind it — your reversing camera stays clear, and you do not lose any garage clearance.
Will I still have room in the boot?
The AL600 does use your cargo area — that is the trade-off for keeping your reversing camera and garage clearance. We assess your vehicle’s cargo space during your assessment so you know exactly what to expect.
Can I still carry passengers?
Yes. The AL600 allows continued use of second-row seating, so passengers can still travel with you.
Does it carry scooters as well as powerchairs?
Yes. The AL600 takes most standard power wheelchairs and mobility scooters up to 159kg. An optional scooter wheel cradle is available for a more secure scooter fit.
How is my device secured?
Four cam buckles are standard. If you would prefer quicker, tool-free securement, four self-tensioning Q’Straint retractors are available as an option.
Does my vehicle need drilling?
In most vehicles, no drilling is required. We confirm this during your vehicle assessment.
What warranty do I get?
A 12-month warranty, with support provided by our Australian team — in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Is NDIS funding available?
It may be. As a registered NDIS provider we can supply quotes and documentation to support your application, and can advise on Support at Home and DVA pathways.
