Find a vehicle that fits you and your wheelchair
Measure your wheelchairтАЩs width, length and occupied height, then check the entry route and travelling position. Compare G24 Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria options with your own wheelchair.
Book your G24 demonstrationWill my wheelchair fit in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle? The answer depends on more than the chairтАЩs width. The occupied wheelchair needs to clear the vehicle opening, reach its intended position and work with the restraint arrangement. There also needs to be room for the people and equipment travelling with you.
Measurements help you shortlist a conversion. A demonstration lets you check how the complete setup works for everyday travel.
Five details to record before choosing a vehicle
Measure the wheelchair with the cushion, headrest, footplates and accessories normally used for travel. Record measurements in millimetres. If a dimension or weight is unknown, mark it as unknown and discuss it with the team.
| Detail | What to include | What to check in the vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Overall width | The widest part of the chair, including wheels, hand rims, joystick or side supports. | The opening and narrowest parts of the route to the travelling position. |
| Overall length | The foremost and rearmost points, including footplates, anti-tip wheels and rear-mounted accessories. | Positioning space, foot clearance and space to close the door or tailgate. |
| Occupied height | Ground to the top of the occupantтАЩs head, seated in the usual travel posture. Also record any higher headrest or equipment. | Entry clearance and headroom at the travelling position. |
| Combined load | The person, wheelchair, batteries and equipment carried on it. | The operating capacity for the exact access system and conversion. |
| Accessories and assistance | Headrest, supports, bags, controls and any help normally required. | Access to restraints, companion seating and room for assistance. |
Overall wheelchair width is different from seat width
A seat-width measurement describes only part of the wheelchair. Wheels, hand rims, armrests and controls may extend beyond it. Use the overall width when discussing vehicle access. Our wheelchair width guide explains the distinction.
Include the equipment you actually use
A chair without its normal accessories may appear to fit differently from the everyday setup. Bring the usual cushion and supports to your demonstration. If tilt, recline or adjustable leg supports are needed for travel, discuss the intended position with the conversion team and your occupational therapist.
Entry height and internal headroom are different checks
Entry height is the available clearance through the vehicle opening. Internal headroom is the space above the passenger once positioned inside. A vehicle can have generous interior height while the opening or another part of the entry route is more restrictive.
The chairтАЩs movement through the opening also matters. Check the full boarding sequence with the person seated, including headrest and footplate clearance. Do not rely on a static height comparison alone.
A measurement just below a listed opening dimension does not establish a suitable fit. Allow the conversion team to assess the clearance needed through the complete route and in the travelling position.
Check comfort after boarding
Spend time in the proposed position. Check your view through the windows, communication with companions, room around your feet and access to personal items. The goal is a usable travelling arrangement, as well as successful entry.
G24 Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria: dimensions to compare
Use these G24 Ultimate figures to prepare for your demonstration. The length varies with the seating configuration. Confirm the available layout and measured clearances for the exact vehicle.
| Dimension or layout | Kia Carnival | Hyundai Staria |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 800 mm | 800 mm |
| Height | 1,550 mm | 1,600 mm |
| Passenger layout length | 1,400 mm | 1,400 mm |
| Family layout length | 1,400 mm | 1,400 mm |
| Twin layout length | 2,600 mm | 2,600 mm |
| Family with Sidefold length | 2,600 mm | 2,600 mm |
| View conversion | Kia Carnival G24 | Hyundai Staria G24 |
The standard G24 specification lists a 350 kg weight capacity. Provide the combined load details and confirm the operating limit for your selected build. The listed width and length do not represent guaranteed clearance at every point or spare luggage space.

Compare G24 with your wheelchairWhat else affects wheelchair fit?
Room to position and secure the chair
Clearing the door is only the first check. The wheelchair needs to reach its approved travelling position, with access to the wheelchair restraints and occupant belt. Include the person who normally assists so they can try the relevant tasks.
Passenger seating and equipment
List who normally travels, including the driver, wheelchair users and other passengers. Then add bags and equipment. Ask to see the seating and storage available with the wheelchair position occupied.
Two wheelchair users
For a Twin layout, assess both chairs together. Their combined arrangement, boarding order, restraint access and remaining seating matter. Two separate successful fit checks do not establish that both chairs will work together in one configuration.
Access where you park
G24 NoRamp┬о provides rear access without a long external ramp to unfold. You still need room for the wheelchair approach, open tailgate and any assistance. Bring photos of your driveway or regular parking locations.
Try your own wheelchair before choosing the conversion
Bring your wheelchair with its normal accessories and, where possible, the person who usually travels with you. Share any relevant occupational therapist recommendations before the appointment.
- Try entry and exit: check the complete route, controls and assistance required.
- Check the travelling position: assess headroom, foot space, view and comfort.
- Try the restraint arrangement: check access for the person fitting and releasing it.
- Review the seating: confirm who can travel alongside the wheelchair.
- Discuss your vehicle: provide its year, variant and existing modifications before purchasing or booking a conversion.

Prepare your measurement checklist
Record what you know, then copy your notes into an enquiry. This checklist prepares a discussion; it does not calculate or approve wheelchair fit.
Your notes are not sent or saved by this checklist. Copy them before leaving the page.

Will any wheelchair fit in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle?
No. The occupied wheelchair must suit the opening, entry route, travelling position, restraints and applicable load limits. Vehicle model alone does not confirm a fit.
Is seat width enough to check vehicle access?
No. Measure the widest part of the complete chair, including wheels, hand rims, controls and supports. Seat width is only one wheelchair measurement.
How do I measure seated height?
With the person seated on their usual cushion in their normal travel posture, measure vertically from the ground to the top of their head. Also record any headrest or equipment that extends higher.
My chair is less than 800 mm wide. Does that mean it fits?
Not necessarily. The opening, route between seats, positioning space and restraint access also matter. The listed 800 mm dimension is a starting point for a demonstration, not a fit guarantee.
Can I use a powered wheelchair in a G24 conversion?
Provide its exact model, dimensions, weight and accessories for assessment. Powered wheelchairs vary considerably, so suitability needs to be checked for the particular chair and conversion.
Does internal height tell me whether I can enter?
No. Entry clearance and internal headroom are separate measurements. Check the occupied wheelchair through the complete entry sequence as well as in its final position.
Can two wheelchairs fit in a G24?
Ultimate┬о Twin layouts provide two wheelchair positions on selected builds. Bring both chairs for assessment and confirm the remaining seating with both positions occupied.
What if I expect to change wheelchairs?
Tell the team before choosing a conversion. If you know the proposed replacement model, provide its dimensions and accessories. Suitability for a future wheelchair should be reviewed rather than assumed.
Can Gilani check my wheelchair during a demonstration?
Contact the team with your wheelchair details and preferred vehicle. Gilani can confirm an appointment and the available demonstration vehicle so you can explore the access and seating arrangement.
