GILANI ENGINEERING ┬╖ G24 ULTIMATE TWIN
Travel together in one wheelchair-accessible vehicle
Explore a G24 layout with two wheelchair positions. Compare access, passenger seating and everyday practicality with both wheelchairs present.
Enquire about a G24 Twin demonstrationYes, two wheelchair users can travel in the same vehicle when it has a suitable approved configuration. The vehicle needs to accommodate both occupied wheelchairs, their restraints and the other passengers travelling with them.
G24 Ultimate Twin provides a two-wheelchair layout for selected Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria conversions. The right starting point is to assess both wheelchairs together, rather than assume that a vehicle suitable for one chair will suit two.
What is the G24 Ultimate Twin layout?
Ultimate Twin provides two designated wheelchair positions. It is one of the configurations in the G24 range, alongside Passenger, Family and Family with Sidefold.
G24 NoRamp┬о access uses a powered lowering floor for rear entry without a long external ramp to unfold. Your demonstration can cover the boarding sequence for both passengers and the arrangement inside the cabin.

A two-wheelchair layout does not mean that any two wheelchairs will fit. Each occupied chair and the combined arrangement need to be checked.
One wheelchair or two: what changes?
A Twin assessment considers the needs of each passenger and how the two positions work together.
| Planning question | One wheelchair position | Two wheelchair positions |
|---|---|---|
| Wheelchair fit | Check one occupied chair through the entry and in its travelling position. | Check both chairs individually and together in the proposed layout. |
| Boarding and exit | Practise the entry and exit route for one passenger. | Confirm boarding order and how each passenger reaches their position. |
| Restraint access | Check the space needed to secure and release one chair and occupant. | Check that both restraint arrangements remain accessible with both chairs aboard. |
| Other passengers | Confirm seats available beside the occupied wheelchair position. | Confirm seats available while both wheelchair positions are occupied. |
| Bags and equipment | Check storage alongside one wheelchair setup. | Include both passengersтАЩ equipment and the space left after both chairs are positioned. |
| Load requirements | Provide the occupant, wheelchair and accessory weights. | Provide each setupтАЩs weight and discuss the complete vehicle load. |
Record the details of both wheelchairs
Prepare a separate set of measurements for each chair. Include the cushion, headrest, footplates, controls and accessories normally used for travel.
- Make and model: identify both chairs, even if they appear similar.
- Overall width: measure the widest point, including controls or side supports.
- Overall length: include footplates, anti-tip wheels and rear-mounted accessories.
- Occupied height: record ground-to-head height and any equipment extending higher.
- Load details: record the person, wheelchair, batteries and attached equipment.
- Assistance: explain who normally helps each passenger and which tasks they perform.
Our wheelchair width guide explains why overall width differs from seat width. These measurements help prepare the assessment; they do not replace checking the actual vehicle.
Entry dimensions are only part of the picture
Both chairs need to pass through the opening, reach their approved positions and leave access to the required restraints. Space that looks available in an empty vehicle may be needed for a footplate, a support or the person assisting.
Check operating capacity and vehicle load separately
Ask the team to identify the applicable access-system operating limit and the vehicleтАЩs load requirements. A rating for one part of the conversion is not permission to load every part to that amount. Include other occupants and luggage when discussing the complete setup.
Plan around the journeys you make
Travelling with family or a support worker
List everyone who normally comes with you, including the driver. Ask to see exactly which conventional seats remain available with both wheelchair positions occupied. Check where a companion can sit and how each wheelchair passenger communicates with them.
Different boarding and exit needs
During the demonstration, practise the intended order of entry and exit. If one person usually leaves the vehicle before the other, explain that routine. Check whether the proposed layout supports it and what assistance is needed.
Carrying equipment
Bring your usual bags and equipment, or provide their dimensions. Identify suitable storage without assuming that unused floor length is available for luggage. The wheelchair positions and access needed for restraints should remain usable.
Trips with only one wheelchair passenger
Tell the team if your passenger numbers change between journeys. Ask which seating arrangements are approved when one wheelchair position is unused and whether folding-seat options would help. An unused wheelchair space does not automatically become an extra passenger seat.
Arrange a demonstration with both wheelchairs
Send both wheelchair models and your preferred vehicle before booking. Gilani can confirm the available demonstration vehicle and discuss the proposed Twin setup.
Bring both wheelchair users where practical, along with the person who normally assists. Use the appointment to check:
- Entry, positioning and exit for each passenger.
- Headroom and space around both occupied chairs.
- Access to wheelchair restraints and occupant belts.
- The conventional seats available for other passengers.
- Storage for everyday bags and equipment.
- Access space at your home and regular destinations.
Get a quote for the complete configuration
Request a quote that identifies both wheelchair positions, passenger seating, restraints and optional equipment. Specify whether you need a supplied vehicle or a conversion of an existing vehicle.
Our wheelchair vehicle conversion cost guide explains what to include when comparing quotes. For broader planning, read the accessible vehicle guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can two powered wheelchairs travel in one vehicle?
Potentially, if the vehicle and approved layout accommodate both occupied chairs and their load requirements. Provide both models, dimensions and weights for assessment; powered wheelchairs vary considerably.
Can one manual and one powered wheelchair be used together?
Discuss both chairs as a combined setup. Their dimensions, restraint compatibility, access requirements and the complete vehicle load determine suitability.
Does G24 offer a two-wheelchair configuration?
Ultimate Twin is a G24 layout with two wheelchair positions for selected conversions. Confirm availability and suitability for the exact vehicle and both wheelchairs.
How many other passengers can travel?
The number depends on the approved configuration. Request a seating plan showing the driver, both occupied wheelchair positions and the conventional seats that can be used at the same time.
Do both wheelchairs need to attend the demonstration?
Assessing them together is the most useful way to check the combined arrangement. If that is difficult, contact the team first with details of both chairs and passengers to discuss the next step.
Can either wheelchair passenger leave first?
That depends on the layout and access route. Explain your usual routine and practise the proposed exit sequence during the demonstration.
Can we keep using the vehicle when only one wheelchair user travels?
Discuss the approved arrangements for your varying passenger needs. Confirm which seats can be used and how the unoccupied wheelchair position should be managed.
Can I convert a vehicle I already own?
Send its year, model, variant and details of existing modifications. Gilani can discuss compatibility with the proposed Twin arrangement before a booking is made.
