Description
Child Seat Anchor Point Installation & Additional Anchor Points тАФ Sydney
Gilani Engineering is a Transport for NSW Authorised Restraint Fitting Station in Sydney. We fit and check your child restraint, and where your vehicle has no factory anchor point we supply, fabricate, install and certify additional top tether anchor points in-house тАФ with VSCCS engineering certification included. From single retrofits to third-row and three-across solutions in 7-seaters and people movers, it all happens under one roof.
That end-to-end capability is rare. Most fitting stations can attach your seat but cannot engineer or certify a new anchorage. Most engineers can certify a modification but do not supply the hardware or run a fitting station. We do all of it, so whether you need a restraint fitted or a certified anchorage fabricated from scratch, it is one job in one place.
What We Do
We handle child car safety from end to end.
- Child restraint fitting тАФ as a Transport for NSW Authorised Restraint Fitting Station, we fit and check your child car seat and issue a Service NSW Certificate on completion.
- Anchor point supply тАФ we supply compliant anchorage hardware, plates and fittings for your vehicle.
- Fabrication and installation тАФ where your vehicle has no factory anchor point, we fabricate and install additional and aftermarket top tether anchorages.
- VSCCS certification тАФ non-standard installations are certified in-house by our licensed VSCCS engineer, included with the job.
Why Child Seat Anchor Points Matter
Child restraint anchor points secure rear-facing, forward-facing and booster seats to the vehicle structure. Without a correctly fitted top tether connection to a compliant anchorage, the child restraint cannot perform as designed in a crash.
- ADR 34 requires child restraint anchorages in most passenger vehicles built after 1993
- Child restraints must comply with AS/NZS 1754
- A correctly fitted top tether anchorage is essential for full restraint performance
- Luggage points, headrests and cargo tie-downs must never be used as child anchor points
Installing Additional or Retrofit Anchor Points
Many vehicles do not have enough factory anchor points тАФ or any in the position you need. This is the job most fitting stations send elsewhere, and it is where our in-house engineering makes the difference. We supply, fabricate and install additional and aftermarket anchor points where the manufacturer never provided one, then certify the work ourselves.
- Older vehicles with no factory anchor points
- Fitting three child seats across a rear row that lacks a centre anchorage
- Third-row top tether anchors for 7-seat SUVs and people movers with no factory provision
- Utes, vans and commercial vehicles needing rear anchorages
- Fleet, rideshare, daycare and NDIS transport vehicles
Non-standard anchor point installations must be certified by a Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme (VSCCS) engineer. Because our VSCCS engineer works in-house at our Wetherill Park facility, assessment, supply, fabrication, installation and certification all happen under one roof тАФ no third-party engineer, no back-and-forth, and the engineering certificate is included with the job.

- Toyota Prado and Kluger
- Kia Carnival and other people movers
- Toyota HiAce, Hyundai iMax and Staria vans
- Dual-cab utes such as the Hilux and Ranger
If your vehicle is not listed, contact us with the make, model and year тАФ most vehicles can be assessed for a compliant retrofit.

What It Costs
The cost of anchor point installation in Sydney depends on your vehicle, how many anchorages you need, and whether fabrication and engineering certification are involved. A standard restraint fitting is a straightforward job. Retrofitting additional certified anchor points into a vehicle with no factory provision takes more work тАФ trim removal, fabrication and certification all factor into the price. Contact us with your vehicle make, model and year for a firm quote before you book.
